Wheaton, IL—Crossway is pleased to release Schaeffer on the Christian Life, placing Francis Schaeffer alongside Bonhoeffer, Wesley, Calvin, Owen, Edwards, Bunyan, and Luther in this growing Crossway series “on the Christian life.”
Known as one of the most influential apologists of the twentieth-century, Francis Schaeffer’s writing, speaking, and filmmaking were in fact largely based on his approach to the Christian life. Schaffer viewed Christianity not merely as a private piety, but a worldview influencing every sphere of life. He saw a deep connection between one’s spirituality and ministry, yet observed that this connection was often neglected. “Schaeffer’s perspective on spirituality should galvanize one’s life in ministry, the workplace, and in the home,” author William Edgar says.
Converted from agnosticism the first day he met Schaeffer, Edgar provides the first book devoted to the heart and soul of Schaeffer’s approach to the Christian life. “He led me to the Lord.” Edgar said. “[Writing this book] is like a debt of gratitude.” This volume will inspire readers to strive after the same marriage of thought and life, of orthodoxy and love, that Schaeffer himself lived out.
